My artistic interest has always been drawn towards portrait and boudoir photography. For this particular project, my aim was to reimagine the boudoir genre with a playful yet secretive twist. The objects in these photographs are both being observed and observing in return, subverting the traditional male gaze that has often been imposed on Asian female bodies. By doing so, my intention is to bring the audience into an active engagement with the subject, and to foster a deeper appreciation for the multi-dimensional identities and experiences of Asian women.
